How is fraud done

For most fraudsters, online job portals are the best way to find their victims. They trap people in this way:

1. The job seeker's profile is extracted from the job recruitment site.
2. Mail can be sent in bulk to all those who can become victims.

How do fraudsters make prey?
These thugs use different methods to make people their prey.

E-mail: This is probably the easiest way to run a job racket.
"By introducing themselves as freelance job consultants, they gain access to people's profiles through various job portals like Monster, Naukri, TimesJobs and Shine," says Hasan. After this, they send mail in bulk.

If they are successful in making even 5 per cent their prey, then they make good money. People are asked to deposit money in the name of security deposit, interview fee or other charge.

Fake website: In order to mislead people, thugs make duplicate websites of well-known companies, job portals or government departments. Neeti Sharma, Senior Vice President, TeamLease Services, says, "After creating the website, the fraudsters then post a fake job on it. Tests are taken. Results are uploaded. In the meantime, various fees are charged from them. "

Campus Placement: Some trainees contact the chairman of a college or institute directly by becoming a job consultant in small towns. They promise to place in top forms. Lump sum is collected in lieu of this. They become confused even before the interview.

How to avoid fraud?

These methods should be adopted to get jobs safely.

Visit trusted websites: Most companies post new jobs on their official website. In this way, instead of suspicious mail, go to the career page of the company. Apply directly to the site. Do not contact 'agents' in India for a job abroad.

Post CV with Job Position: While posting CV on job portal, make sure that the post is written on it for which you are applying. Whatever post will be found in its response, this post will be mentioned in it.

Do not pay to secure a job: "No company asks job seekers to deposit money at any stage," says Abhijit Mukherjee, CEO of Monster.com (APAC & Gulf). Therefore, beware of the company seeking fees for security deposit, registration or document verification.

Find flaws in the mail / letter: The best way to defeat the intentions of the contact through the mail is to read it well. Then it should be alerted if it does not have an e-mail address. See also letter formatting, spelling mistakes, etc.

Call the firm and verify the mail: If there is any doubt in the offer or appointment letter, call the registered landline number of the company. Check if the person who sent the mail is actually there.

Be cautious with very attractive job offers: If you are offered an increment of 70-80 percent or not in line with the market trend, then know that this is definitely a fake job offer. Mukherjee says, "Another indicator is that you be given the offer letter without a formal interview."
