Mahindra Rs 9 lakh SUV to be segment-killer?

The SUV market in India has exploded in the last few years. The compact SUV segment has been one of the major contributors to this growth. Compact SUVs provide the feel of an SUV in a compact size, ideal for crowded cities. The XUV300 is one of the cars in this segment. It competes against the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon and Kia Sonet. Considering Mahindra’s recent push in the SUV segment with the XUV700, the XUV300 which is awaiting a facelift in the country will greatly benefit from it. In today’s article, we will look at this Mahindra Rs 9 lakh SUV which can become a segment-killer after its next update.

Mahindra XUV300 – 7 reasons to consider

Design

The XUV300 comes with an aggressive front end design. The headlamps seamlessly integrate with the fog lamps, a design that Mahindra has also used on the XUV700 as well. It gets pronounced shoulder & body lines giving it a solid stance. Overall, the car looks quite imposing already. We do not expect to see any major changes being made to the exterior design of the car. With that being said, elements like bumper and alloy wheels will be revamped to give the car a fresh look. We expect the car to come with some major changes on the interior design front. Currently, the XUV300 gets a centre console that looks outdated when compared to most of its rivals. A new dashboard layout is expected with the car.

Engine specifications

XUV300 comes in both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol engine is a 1.2-litre turbocharged unit capable of producing 108bhp and 200Nm of torque. The diesel engine is a 1.5-litre unit capable of producing 115bhp and 300Nm of torque. Both the engines come with manual and AMT gearbox options. We expect the engine to be re-tuned in order to make slightly more power than the currently available car.

Rs 9 lakh Mahindra SUV features

The XUV300 comes loaded with a lot of comfort-oriented features. A 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an electric sunroof, tyre pressure monitoring system, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, steering modes, front parking sensors, heated ORVMs and dual-zone climate control are some key features of the currently available XUV300. Looking at Mahindra’s offerings with the XUV700, we can expect a lot more features to be made available with this compact SUV in its next update. Electronic parking brake with Auto Hold, 360-degree parking camera, 3D surround sound system, Alexa compatibility, a bigger touchscreen infotainment system, etc. could be some of the features that the car could come with.
